Iron

The most common reason people stop taking iron is side effects. Ferrous sulfate, ferrous fumarate, and ferrous gluconate release free iron ions in the gut lumen, which generate free radical byproducts that irritate the intestinal lining, slow motility, and produce the nausea and constipation that make compliance difficult. Ferrochel works differently.

People with lab-confirmed iron deficiency or low ferritin, especially those who have struggled with GI side effects from other iron forms. Commonly recommended for women of reproductive age, vegetarians, and athletes with increased iron needs.

Can be taken with or without food. Bisglycinate chelate does not require an empty stomach like other iron forms.

Iron supplementation should be guided by lab work (serum ferritin, TIBC, CBC). Supplementing iron without confirmed deficiency can lead to iron overload and oxidative damage.
